How do I book a Chitwan safari with you?
Choose a tour, pick your dates and send a booking request or book online where instant booking is shown. We check availability with guides and lodges and send a confirmation by email with your itinerary and inclusions. Your booking is confirmed once payment has been received as shown at checkout.
How do I pay, and is payment secure?
Payment is made online by card through our payment provider, which handles your card details securely. We never see or store your full card number. The amount due and the payment timing are shown at checkout and in your confirmation before you pay.
What is your cancellation policy?
Our standard policy gives a full refund, minus payment-processing fees, if you cancel 7 or more days before your tour starts, and a partial refund closer to the date. A tour’s own page or confirmation may state a different policy. Full details are on our cancellation policy page.
Do you offer pickup from Kathmandu or Pokhara?
Some tours include transport from Kathmandu or Pokhara by private car or tourist bus; others start in Sauraha. The tour page lists what is included. Where a tour starts in Sauraha, we can usually advise on the bus or arrange a transfer from the bus stop or Bharatpur Airport.
What is included in a Chitwan safari package?
Each tour page lists its inclusions. Packages typically cover accommodation, meals as stated, activities with a licensed nature guide and park entry fees for the activities listed. Transport to Chitwan, drinks, tips and personal expenses vary by tour, so check the list before you book.
Can I bring children on a Chitwan safari?
Yes. Jeep safaris, canoe rides, breeding centres and Tharu cultural programs suit most children. Jungle walks and tower nights are not suitable for young kids. A private jeep lets you set the pace. Tell us your children’s ages when you book so we can suggest the right activities.
Is Chitwan a good destination for solo travelers?
Yes. Shared jeeps and group activities make it easy to join others and keep costs down, and Sauraha is a relaxed, walkable village. Many of our tours can be booked for one person; the price per person may be higher for private options.
Can I get vegetarian or other special meals?
Yes. Vegetarian food is easy to find in Nepal, and dal bhat, the local staple of rice and lentils, is often vegetarian. Vegan, gluten-free and allergy needs can usually be handled with notice. Add your requirements when you book so we can pass them on to the lodge.
When is the best time to visit Chitwan?
October to April is the main season. February and March are often best for wildlife viewing, after grass-cutting opens up the grasslands. December and January have cool, foggy mornings. April and May are very hot. June to September is monsoon, with some areas closed or limited.
Will I see a tiger in Chitwan?
Possibly, but don’t count on it. Chitwan had about 128 tigers in the 2022 count, yet sightings are uncommon because tigers are shy and the habitat is dense. Tracks and alarm calls are much more common. Rhinos, deer, crocodiles and many birds are seen far more often.
Is Chitwan safe?
Yes, for most travelers. Activities inside the park go with licensed guides, and Sauraha is a small, friendly village. The main things to manage are wildlife when on foot, heat, mosquitoes and road travel. Follow your guide, use repellent, drink plenty of water and carry travel insurance.
How much are Chitwan National Park fees?
Entry for foreign visitors is approx. NPR 2,000 per person per day plus VAT, with lower rates for SAARC visitors. Community forests charge less. Fees change, so check current rates. Where park fees are included in a tour, the tour page says so and for how many days.
Should I tip guides and drivers?
Tipping is customary in Nepal and appreciated, but it is always your choice. Many travelers tip nature guides and drivers in cash at the end of an activity or stay, and leave something for lodge staff. Hand tips directly to the person in Nepali rupees.
Do I need a visa for Nepal?
Most nationalities can get a tourist visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport and main land borders, or apply online before travel. Indian citizens do not need a visa. Rules, fees and eligible nationalities change, so check current requirements with official Nepali sources or your embassy before you travel.
Do I need travel insurance for a Chitwan safari?
We strongly recommend it. Choose a policy that covers medical treatment, emergency evacuation, trip cancellation and the activities you plan, such as jungle walks. If you are trekking as well, make sure the policy covers the altitude you will reach. Carry the policy details with you.
Can I change my tour dates after booking?
Usually yes. Under our standard policy, you can change your dates once free of charge if you ask at least 3 days before the start and the new dates are available. Contact us by email or through your account with your booking reference and preferred dates.
