Chitwan Canoe Ride and Jungle Walk
A quiet half day: a dugout canoe down the Rapti at first light, then a guided walk back through forest and grassland.
A full day in and around the park for travelers already in Sauraha: morning canoe on the Rapti, guided walk, and an afternoon jeep drive.
This day tour is built for people who are already staying in Sauraha or passing through on the way between Kathmandu, Pokhara and Lumbini.
You start on the river at first light, when mugger crocodiles bask on the sandbanks and kingfishers work the shallows. After a short guided walk back through the forest edge you have time for breakfast before the afternoon jeep drive into the grasslands, the best window for rhinos and deer.
Park entry, a licensed nature guide and the jeep seat are included, so the price you see is the price of the day.
Activities may be reordered on the day for weather, river levels or park rules.
Your lodge in Sauraha, or the Sauraha tourist bus park if you arrive by bus.
Cancel 7 or more days ahead for a full refund (minus card fees); 3–6 days ahead, half is refunded; inside 72 hours there is no refund. Read the full cancellation policy.
Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. Your guide will choose routes for the season and the day's conditions. Check what each month is like and what to bring before you travel, and read our safety notes if you're traveling with children.

Spend time with an elephant and its mahout: walk alongside on the forest path, help prepare its food and learn how the pair work together. No riding.
