About this tour

With two nights, you get a full day in the middle and nothing to rush. You'll do the canoe and the walk in the cool of the morning, rest through the heat, then head into the grasslands by jeep in the afternoon.

Arrival and departure days are kept lighter: a village walk, sunset at the river and, if you'd like to see working elephants and their calves, the elephant breeding center.

So when people ask us how long to stay, this is the package we suggest.

Questions about this tour

Why do you suggest two nights?
Because you get one full day with nothing to rush: the canoe and walk in the cool morning, a rest through the heat, then the jeep in the afternoon. Arrival and departure days stay light. One night works but feels like a dash, and three nights suits people who want more time in the park.
Are meals included?
Yes, all meals from lunch on day 1 to breakfast on day 3. Drinks and snacks aren't. Vegetarian food is easy to find, and if you have other needs, add them when you book and we'll pass them on to the lodge.
When is the best time to go?
October to April is the main season, and February and March are often best for wildlife, once the grass has been cut. December and January mornings are cool and foggy, while April and May are very hot. The best time to visit page goes through it month by month.
Can I see elephants on this package?
Yes, without riding. On day 3 you can choose an early visit to the elephant breeding center, where the park's working elephants raise their calves, or a bird walk instead.
Where will I stay?
In a lodge in Sauraha, the village on the north bank of the Rapti, a short walk from the river crossing into the park. Pickup and drop at the Sauraha bus park are included.
